Pixel Future is Open For Business

Saturday, February 16th, 2008, 6:48 am

I am happy to announce that Pixel Future’s web site is finally complete. For a long time I have wanted my own portfolio site and I have finally done it. I didn’t stop there either. I obtained a Fictitious Business Name Statement and opened a business checking account for Pixel Future. This means Pixel Future is officially open for business.

I am now searching for work. I would like to obtain enough clients so I can finally leave my day job and completely focus my attention on my business. What this means is I need to market my services on the web and locally. I plan on marketing my business on the web by using online social networks and message boards. I also plan on getting a few ads from my local publications and cold calling local businesses.

As soon as I found out what marketing method worked best for me I will let post it on my blog. If you need a web site or would like to offer some advice pleas contact me at rodrigo@pixelfuture.com.

I am a Married Man

Monday, August 27th, 2007, 3:40 am

I haven’t been able to post in my blog for the last few weeks because my life has had many exciting changes. On August 11th I got married and then I spent a week in Hawaii for my honeymoon.

These last few weeks have been some of the best and most memorable times in my life.

I am in the process of gathering wedding pictures and Hawaii pictures to post online to share.

My Pownce Experience

Saturday, August 4th, 2007, 2:55 am

I was disappointed in Pownce today but look forward to what it will become in the future. I tried it today for the first time and I loved its interface. The interface is user-friendly and the design is beautiful. However, I felt Pownce lacked in functionality.

For some reason I imagined Pownce to behave like Twitter but it was more like a glorified instant messenger. You can send messages using the online interface or the application they provide sort of like Twitter except you can select to send the message publicly, just to your Friends or privately to one of your friends (much like an instant messenger). You can also upload files.

These are nice functions and the eye candy is beautiful. However, you are unable to send messages using your phone like you can in Twitter. You cannot do anything that your day-to-day instant messengers, email and Twitter can’t do. This is disappointing. I expected to be in awe of Pownce but it is just a pretty site.

I know it is still in development so I shouldn’t be too critical. I am crossing my fingers that it will develop into an amazing application.

Firefox Tabbing Problems on List Boxes

Sunday, July 29th, 2007, 1:38 am

My favorite web browser by far is Firefox for many reasons. It is one of the most standards compatible browser in existence, it has very useful add-ons (i.e. Firebug), and it is almost completely customizable. However, I found one flaw this week that was absolute driving me insane. Whenever I encountered a web form I could tab over every text field but not drop down lists or list boxes (normally used in contact forms asking for state or country you live in). Firefox would skip right over these form elements as if they never existed on the page!

Was this a regular Mac thing? I tested the same pages using Safari and Camino and tabbing was not an issue. I also tested Firefox on a Windows machine and noticed the problem did not exist there either. It was only happening on Firefox installed on Macs. I was determined to find out what was going on.

Memory Foam Rocks!

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007, 3:30 pm

I was skeptical about what a difference the memory foam mattress topper could make. I thought buying memory foam was a fad. I just woke up about an hour and I feel great. My fiancee, Shannon, is still sleeping like an angel.

I can’t remember the last time I woke up in the morning without a little backache. One night with the memory foam and I want to announce it to the world. I purchased the memory foam mattress topper from Target for my queen side bed.

Last night I laid the memory foam mattress topper on the bed and had Shannon lay on it and she said it felt wonderful. I tried and I couldn’t believe how instantly comfortable I felt.

If you have trouble sleeping or you have a bad back I highly recommend you try this stuff.
